All work and no play… Work hard, play hard!
We have a lot of sayings about finding balance in our lives. The line between work and play is different for everyone. The trick is finding that sweet spot between fulfillment and relaxation.
When do you leave work behind and immerse yourself in play? How does changing your scenery and routine effect your motivation?
Speaking for myself, I start to shake if I don’t have an adventure on my calendar. I find joy in planning trips and discovering new parts of the world. Whether I go with family, friends or on my own, I make the most of each experience.
This Thursday I am off to explore Malta and Italy. My ideal vacation includes time alone to stretch out of my comfort zone and be inspired. I also value experiencing natural beauty, exciting cultures, and making new memories with family and friends. This vacation is a combination of four different trips to reach that goal.
Knights in Malta
First, I’ll explore the mysterious history and gorgeous beaches of Malta. My friend Teresa from the UK, who I met on the Albanian Coast last year, will be joining me. We share a true sense of adventure that is perfect for Malta.
Roman Holiday
Next comes a week alone in Rome and Sorrento. Having visited Rome several times, I plan to simply wander the streets of The Eternal City absorbing the beautiful energy. OK, there might be a little shopping as well. In Sorrento, I am excited to discover the history and coastal scenery.
Mediterranean Diet
Moving on to the famous Amalfi Coast, I’ll be joined by my friend of 30+ years, Brian, who also values adventure travel and a stunning beach. Nine days in Positano and on the Isle of Capri will give us plenty of time to explore, relax and recharge all while sipping limoncello.
La Dolce Vita
From the Amalfi Coast, I’ll fly up to Lake Como to visit my dear friend Jim in his villa, which was the family home of Pope Pius 11. I’m looking forward to boating and strolling around this magical region, while planning our next meal.
I’ll let this post serve as my “Out of Office” for May. I hope it also inspires you to think about your next adventure…
