With Florida, Texas and several Caribbean nations focused on Hurricane recovery and rebuilding, Musical Monday is devoted to the calm after the storm. I Can See Clearly Now was #1 in the U.S. for a month in 1972.
Singer songwriter Johnny Nash, from Houston, Texas, is credited with bringing the island rhythms of Reggae into the U.S. mainstream. In 1967, Nash traveled to Jamaica to collaborate with artists like Bob Marley. Jimmy Cliff, a Reggae legend, re-recorded Nash’s song in 1993 and hit the Billboard top 20 with his version.
I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.
~Johnny Nash, I Can See Clearly Now
We all have some obstacles in our path. Sometimes we know they exist. Other times blocks come as a total surprise. There is nothing quite like that ah ha moment when we see the light after a block has been cleared. As a Life Transition Coach, I often get to experience this excitement with my clients.
